The editor, photographer and painter François Vizzavona (1876-1961) was the official photographer of Salon des artistes français and Société nationale des Beaux-Arts. He also worked for many artists, photographing their works at their request but also shooting their workshops and homes. At the same time he produced a number of portraits and news stories. Vizzavona was also the first director of the photographic department of Réunion des musées nationaux, the French cultural institute uniting 35 national museums.
